Pratyahara –Yoga Sutra of Patanjali

Yoga means union of the individual consciousness. Yoga is originated from Veda, the oldest scripture of India.

Patanjali, an Indian sage, is the compiler of yoga science. The father of modern yoga is Sadhguru. He wrote ‘Yoga Sutra’ containing 195 verses divided into four chapters. According to Yoga Sutra of Patanjali- ‘Yoga is a restraint of the activities of the mind’. Yoga is Skillfulness in action.

Pratyahara Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit which refers to the abstraction of senses. Pratyahara yoga is known as Ashtanga yoga. The aim of Pratyahara yoga is an object focused on meditation. Pratyahara yoga is a concept of Eight Limbs Of Yoga. The eight limbs form a sequence from the outer to the inner. The importance of eight practices is to help us purify our physical body, energy body, gain mastery over senses, and become free from illusions. The goal is to achieve self-realization.

  • Niyama (Observances)
